Source: forum.eeeuser.com

This is for all first timers and if I can do it then anyone else can do it.

I had no previous experience in soldering so I did my homework and I practiced here http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=36326

OK, Lets start ...

Here are all the pictures I took while doing the installation for you reference.

Eee PC 900 With Fingerprint Reader

Source: forum.eeeuser.com

The first picture shows the standard swipe-style fingerprintreader that I used. It is the Eikon digital privacy manager which comes with a software package by Upek. I prefer the Upek package over most other fingerprintreader packages I've seen so far because it allows me to assign applications to fingers, login at windows, it has some linux support and it tracks my passwords for websites in both IE and Firefox (though not Firefox 3.0 yet - they're working on that at the moment). The device's outward appearance makes it seem rather bulky, but the actual electronics inside of it are really quite small.

Internal ZIF Storage Solution

Source: forum.eeeuser.com

I am proud to announce that the Internal ZIF connector WORKS!!!
I will be updating this first posts with new findings... so please read this post first!

This tutorial will aid you to a larger capacity EeePC 901 using the built-in ZIF connector, this is in no way an idiot proof guide, but will give you enough idea as to what your options are.

This feature is NOT for everyone, if you dont like it, dont do it, this thread is for people who does and for those interested and have questions.

Get Windows XP running well on the Eee

Source: apcmag.com

So you know someone who's bought one of the new Eee PCs running Windows XP? Take pity on them and make a few of these changes to make it run better.

After all the poking and prodding which went into our review of the XP-equipped Eee PC, we couldn't resist trying a few simple optimisations. Why? Well, just because, okay? We're geeks: we don't need an excuse!

Full Desktop with IceWM and Rox-Filer

Source: productivelinux.com

It’s true that the easiest to way to get the full desktop feel on your EEE is to install the full KDE desktop, but if you’re not afraid to get a little down and dirty with some simple config files, give this a try. You’ll end up with a sleek, elegant desktop without the overhead of KDE. We’ll customize the built-in window manager IceWM and we’ll install Rox-filer to handle our desktop icons and provide a nice file manager.

Nifty tools for your Asus Eee PC

Source: www.linux.com

It didn't take the enterprising community of Asus Eee PC users long to come up with some great tweaking tools for this Linux-based ultra-low-cost laptop. Just a few weeks after the official launch of Eee PC, the first tweaking utilities started to appear on the EeeUser forums. Today, you can choose from a wide selection of tools that can help you to customize your tiny laptop and make your work on it more efficient.

Eee PC & Nokia E51 automated HSDPA

Source: www.havethat.co.uk

I have been looking for a cheap and seamless way to connect to the internet on my ASUS Eee with the minium of equipment and no hassle.

I considered internal HSDPA but eventually decided on this method to avoid modding my Eee and save on cost (data is cheaper as an addon to my t-mobile contract than as a seperate contract).

XP - Get rid of Virtual Memory

Source: thepeoplegeek.wordpress.com

That was the fastest XP install I have ever done. The trimmed down install was very small It booted right up into 640×480 32bit color. The left and right mouse buttons were reversed. Figuring that out took longer than changing it did. TIME TO MAKE ROOM- Kill that virtual memory

Running XP as a Virtual Machine

Source: thebirdant.blogspot.com

There are a lot of guides on how to install XP on your EEEPC which are really great and I appreciate the time and effort that has been put into them… but if you’re like me, some of you may have tried and failed due to one reason or another. In my case, I had XP2002 which won’t install on the EEEPC as the guides will tell you.

Installing Audacity on the Eee PC

Source: eeesite.net

My primary plan for my Eee PC is to use it a mobile blogging tool. But I just had to see if I could install some audio editing software. It turns out the answer is yes. Yes I could.Color me a little bit shocked that I managed to do this on my first day with my new toy. I had kind of sworn to myself that I wouldn't install any new software until I had played with everything the Eee PC had to offer out of the box. But where's the fun in that? When you first power up the Eee PC, there are about 40 programs installed. One is a sound recorder, but that won't get you very far if you're editing podcasts or radio stories. Ardour might be pushing it a bit, so I figured I would try to install Audacity.
